About The Ingredients
We are using the most moisturising and nourishing ingredients for this body butter recipe.
Here’s why they are the best ingredients for the job…
Shea butter
Shea butter is one of our favourite moisturising butter! It is great for really dry skin as it contains vitamins A, E, K and F.
We are using organic shea butter for the most nourishing properties. However, this butter does have a strong nutty aroma! If you want to use shea butter without a strong scent you can use shea butter refined!
Tamanu oil
Tamanu oil contains a really high amount of fatty acids and it is extremely moisturising. It is great for dry skin, itchy skin and sensitive skin. Our tamanu oil is organic viscous oil, but it does have a very strong aroma.
Neem oil
Neem oil is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It is used to improve overall skin health as it can help hydrate damaged, cracked, and dry skin. Neem oil has a very thick consistency and a very strong bitter aroma.
Body Butter Recipe
This is the best body butter for sensitive skin, dull skin, irritated skin, very dry skin and reactive skin types. The natural oils and butters in this recipe are super moisturising and provide long lasting hydration, leaving the skin soft and nourished.
This body butter is a smooth, thick consistency. If this consistency isn’t right for your skin, you can easily adjust it.
If you need the body butter to be thicker, just add a little bit of shea butter until you are happy with the thickness. If you prefer your body butter to be thinner, add a little bit of oil at a time until it reaches the right consistency for you.
Ingredients
- Shea butter 34g
- Tamanu oil 33g
- Neem oil 33g
Method

1. Weigh the ingredients
- Weigh the shea butter in a bowl
- Heat the shea butter in a microwave or in a bowl over hot water.
- Weigh the tamanu oil and neem oil.
- Add them to the melted shea butter and mix.

2. Whip the mixture
- Allow the mixture to cool a little and then put your bowl in your fridge or freezer.
- Once the mixture has mostly set (but it is still soft) whip the mixture. Use an electric whisk and whip it up until it looks similar to whipped cream.
- Once it is whipped, put it into tubs or jars (you can reuse the tubs the shea came in!) and apply body butter to the skin.
What Does it Smell Like?
As amazing as these ingredients are for dry skin, they do come with one set back. They have an unpleasant aroma.
It isn’t for everyone, and we completely get it! But these oils work wonders for skin, so if you are willing to look past the smell then you can enjoy their natural benefits.
We have tested essential oils with this recipe, but unfortunately, it is not possible to completely disguise the strong scent of the oils. We advise against adding fragrance to this body butter, as it may irritate the skin further.
